  14. My internal USR Sportster 36.6 Vi will not send or receive faxes with Procomm 
  15. Plus for Windows 2.11, however, there is absolutely no problem with data 
  16. transmission.  I am using the newest wmodems.dat file from Datastorm, which 
  17. includes the new  definition for this modem.  The error message received is 
  18. "Serial Com or File System Failure".  I have also tried every remedy suggested 
  19. in the Procomm documentation.

  21. The Quicklink software supplied with the Sportster works flawlessly, so I know 
  22. that the modem is capable of sending/receiving faxes in its current 
  23. configuration, however, there are times when using Procomm would be more 
  24. convenient.  I have attempted to use the Init String and settings used in 
  25. Quicklink when configuring Procomm, but to no avail...same error message.

  27. I am running Windows '95 on a Gateway 486 dx2/66V, and have had no problems 
  28. using the modem with a PPP connection to my ISP.  Likewise, there have also 
  29. been no problems in using the modem with PCPLUS 2.0 for DOS.  Of course all my 
  30. successful connections using software other than Quicklink have been for data 
  31. transmission.
